Ree, Inc. Newport Beach, CA www.reef.com
Senior XML, XSL, XSP Developer (contract) (04/2001 - 11/2001)
Reef is a global Internet software company providing a modular suite of Internet applications, called Reef Internetware®. Reef is a privately held company financed by Viventures, Cisco Systems, Goldman Sachs, 3i, Net Fund Europe, Profrigo, and other private and individual investors. Reef's XML-based technology uses a rule-base that crunches through the definition elements of XML files - the code that specifies display characteristics - and selectively modifies them for types of access device. In practice, this means that a single web page can be dynamically configured for display on a PC, PDA or WAP-enabled phone. Edapta's rule-base also contains service APIs that allow it to be connected to text-to-speech translation software, for example. The technology can be used to dynamically change the delivery mode of content.
Personal contribution: I worked on XSL templates which are applied to the absolutely different XML templates based on Edapta's DTD. One XSL template displays all XML for different view types. Personally I implemented XSL templates for HTML, PDF, Palm and WAP view types. Developed new custom interfaces (some using XML) between ADP/CSS Hrizon and other applications.
